Life in Africa is different... but it's Fun!!

(are you thinking Michael Jackson? Well, she is actually sweeping out a very dirty garage!)
These are just some things we noticed living in Africa!! ENJOY!!

[And please don't think we are complaining.. we aren't we just want to share some of our humorous events & other things]

  • Going to School for the first time in my life, and it being a British school system & having to wear a uniform is very different.

  • Having the steering wheel on the right side of the car, and driving on the left side of the road.

  • Having everyone call me Kelland isn't what I'm use to, but I like the it! :]

  • The roads here are FULL of taxis. They are EVERYWHERE!

  • Instead of seeing your average raccoons, squirrels, rabbits, deer & other animals along the side of the road, Here it is much different. We see: Donkeys, monkeys, goats & cows.

  • When the temperature outside is 70 degrees F people are wearing coats.

  • Being made fun of for talking with what they call an accent.

  • Having fresh fruits & veggies all the time is a wonderful blessing!

  • Seeing Combies [vans] drive by with 15+ people crammed in it.

  • Not being able to pronounce street names

  • People's definition of being on time is... well different. [Everyone is always late.]

  • Checking cookies for maggots it's always a smart move before putting the cookie in your mouth!

Having little kids come by everyday just to say Dumela! [Hello]

Hope some of those made you laugh!.. Now let me give you directions to our house!

Steer around huge pot holes and turn on the road where they have MANURE FOR SALE! Turn right at the second robot [traffic light] and left at the next robot. Follow traffic to round about (traffic circle) and go straight over the railroad tracks. Don't mind the warning lights, cross over anyway, the train is only 25metres away. Turn right on the road by the Ladies Prison and travel through the light industrial area, over the Ntshe River (no water). Go past the coalmine, which is flooded, and on to - a cul de sac located in Monarch Phase 5, right past the cemetery!

Drive into front yard past security gate and gaze at a Wonderful brick home with orange trim. Just yell "Koko" -which means knock knock- and someone inside will answer "Sayna" -means come in- and will great you with a big hug!

Hope you enjoyed! miss you all tons!!

Love Kb

Sounds a "little" familiar ... except we don't have to wear uniforms!
